Driver- CPR Certified (Part-time/PRN)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive ambulance to emergent, non-emergent, and interfacility calls.
- Cover on-call hours as directed and based on departmental needs.
- Complete all required orientation and annual competency skills.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and required training.
- Assist Paramedics and EMTs with restocking and cleaning the ambulance after each call.
- Maintain satisfactory State of Iowa licensure and certification status.
- Report vehicle malfunctions or incidents to the EMS Director and complete required incident reports.
- Assist in maintaining clean, organized station facilities.
- Support recruitment, orientation, and mentoring of peers in a positive and professional manner.
- Participate in community outreach and education with public safety partners, neighboring agencies, hospitals, schools, and businesses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid State of Iowa Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within one (1) month of employment.
- Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) upon hire and annual refresher training.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical examination, agility screening, and driving record review.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in ambulances, station facilities, stock rooms, ambulance bays, office settings, and a variety of emergency scenes. The position may involve exposure to fire, smoke, noise, dust, dirt, machinery, contagious or infectious diseases, chemicals, animals, and extreme or inclement weather. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Physical Requirements

Duties require frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, reaching, and lifting. Work is often performed while wearing PPE and carrying equipment. The ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds is required.
